The Department of Library and Information Science, University of Jammu, organized an extension lecture by Prof. Sameer Gul, Kashmir University on 18 December 2025 in the Department. The programme commenced with an introduction of the resource person and the theme of the lecture by Prof. Sangita Gupta, Head of the Department. Prof Sameer Gul highlighted contemporary developments in librarianship, focusing on the impact of digital technologies, evolving user expectations, and the growing role of libraries in research support and knowledge management. He also emphasized emerging skills required for library professionals and the need for continuous professional development.

The session was attended by faculty, students and research scholars who actively interacted with the resource person. Dr. Pramod Kumar Singh, Associate Professor, proposed the vote of thanks, and the programme concluded with a group photograph.
