150 years of “Vande Mataram” commemorated at University Institute of Engineering and Technology (UIET), Kathua Campus, University of Jammu.

 
 

 

 

 

 

University Institute of Engineering and Technology (UIET), Kathua Campus, University of Jammu, commemorated the 150 years of “Vande Mataram” on 7th November 2025 with great enthusiasm and patriotic fervour. The event aimed to honour the historical and cultural significance of the iconic national song, written by Bankim Chandra Chatterjee in 1875, which continues to inspire the spirit of unity and devotion to the motherland.

The programme commenced with the mass singing of “Vande Mataram” by the facultyand students of UIET, led by Prof. Arvind Jasrotia, Rector/Coordinator, UIET, Kathua Campusand Dr. Rockey Gupta, I/c Principal, UIET, Kathua Campus. The melodious rendition of the song echoed through the campus, filling the atmosphere with deep emotion and national pride.

Following the collective singing, the gathering listened to the Prime Minister’s address, which was streamed live as part of the nationwide celebration. In his inspiring speech, the Hon’ble Prime Minister highlighted the enduring relevance of “Vande Mataram” in fostering national unity, cultural pride, and a sense of collective responsibility among citizens.

The event concluded with expressions of gratitude and reflection on the song’s historical journey from the pages of Anandamath to becoming a symbol of India’s freedom struggle and identity. The commemoration not only celebrated 150 glorious years of “Vande Mataram” but also reignited the patriotic zeal among the young engineers of UIET.
