Day 2 of “Display Your Talent – Tawi Zone” witnesses enthusiastic participation across events

Jammu November 07: The second day of the ongoing “Display Your Talent – Tawi Zone” event witnessed an engaging array of competitions that celebrated creativity, intellect, and artistic expression under the convenorship of Dr. Seema Malpotra.
The day began with a Quiz Competition where students from eleven colleges participated enthusiastically. The Law School, University of Jammu clinched the first position, followed by the Department of Political Science and MIER College, Jammu, securing the second and third positions respectively. The competition was observed by Dr. Geeta and Dr. Farah Choudhary from the University of Jammu.
In the Elocution Competition, participants showcased their oratory skills on thought-provoking topics. Ojaswi Rajput from GCW Parade Ground, Jammu secured the first position, Anshika Gandhi from The Law School, University of Jammu stood second, and Parul from Media Department, University of Jammu claimed the third spot. The event was judged by Dr. Monika Sharma, Dean, Cluster University of Jammu, and Dr. Vijender Kumar, HOD Sanskrit, GCW Gandhinagar.
The dramatic flair of students was on full display during the Skit Competition, where eight colleges presented performances on diverse social themes. Govt. Degree College, RS Pura won first place, while the Centre for Distance and Online Learning and The Law School, JU bagged the second and third positions respectively. The performances were evaluated by Mr. Suresh Sharma, Mr. Ravinder Kaul, and Mr. Vikrant Sharma.
The One Act Play Competition brought forward powerful performances depicting various social issues. GCW Parade Ground, Jammu emerged as the winner, followed by the PG Integrated Team, University of Jammu, and the Centre for Distance and Online Learning, which secured the second and third positions respectively. The event was judged by Mr. Suresh Sharma, Mr. Ravinder Kaul, and Mr. Vikrant Sharma.
In the Collage Making Competition, themed “Portrait of a Sportsperson or Wildlife,” Divya Rathore and Adith Kumar Kotwal from IMFA bagged the first and second positions respectively. Similarly, the Painting Competition saw Richa Rana claim the first position, Rupinder Singh the second, and Shalini Sharma the third. Both art events were judged by Sh. Suman Gupta, Sh. Mahesh Sharma, and Smt. Jyoti Gupta.
The Clay Modelling Competition, based on the theme “Think – A Man or a Boat Rider,” showcased imaginative works from six colleges. Varsha Kumari secured the first position, followed by Gurleen Kour and Nancy Verma in second and third place respectively. Judging for this category was also conducted by Sh. Suman Gupta, Sh. Mahesh Sharma, and Smt. Jyoti Gupta.
The musical segment added rhythm to the day with performances in Western Group Song, Western Vocal Solo, and Western Instrumental Solo categories. GCW Parade Ground, Jammu topped the Western Group Song category, while IMFA stood second. In Western Vocal Solo, Kunwar Langeh from The Law School, JU bagged the first position, followed by Preeti from the Centre for Distance and Online Learning and Harika Raj Nagotra from GCW Parade, Jammu, who stood third. In Western Instrumental Solo, Abraham Victor secured the first position, and Shiny James claimed the second. The musical events were judged by Ms. Tanya Gupta and Sh. Jagmeet Singh.
Dr. Ravender Tickoo, Principal, GCW Parade Ground was also present at the occasion alongwith other dignitaries.The entire day’s proceedings were efficiently coordinated by Dr. Gurpreet Kaur, making Day 2 of “Display Your Talent – Tawi Zone” a vibrant celebration of youthful creativity and excellence along with her team.
The events of the Department of Students Welfare, University of Jammu is being conceived, planned, and coordinated by the DSW team led by Prof. Prakash Antahal (Dean Students Welfare), Prof. Monika Chadha (Chairperson, Campus Cultural Committee), Prof. Sarika Manhas (Co-Chairperson, Campus Cultural Committee), Dr. Pritam Singh (Associate Dean SW), Dr. Shallu Sharma and Dr. A.R. Manhas (Deputy Chief Proctors), Dr. Harleen Kaur and Dr. Ripudaman Parihar (Assistant Deans SW), Ms. Mansi Mantoo (Media Officer), Sumeet Sharma (Drama Instructor), and members of the Campus Cultural Committee.
