Kathua Campus (JU) organizes Invited Talk on “Nature Inspired Computing: Algorithms, Performance, and Applications”

.

Department of Computer Science & IT, Kathua Campus, University of Jammu organized an Invited Talk on “Nature Inspired Computing: Algorithms, Performance, and Applications” by Dr. Rohit Salgotra, Assistant Professor, AGH University of Krakow, Poland. The event was organized to provide students and faculty with insights into the rapidly evolving field of Nature-Inspired Computing and its diverse real-world applications.

Dr. Salgotra is an eminent researcher working in the field of Nature-Inspired Computing and has published over 60 Science Citation Indexed papers with a Google Scholar citation count of 2,785 and an h-index of 29. His name has been included in Stanford University’s list of Top 2% Most Influential Scientists for the years 2020, 2021, 2024, and 2025.

In his address, Dr. Salgotra provided a detailed overview of nature-inspired optimization algorithms, including their performance, advantages, and diverse applications in solving complex computational problems. He emphasized how these algorithms mimic natural phenomena such as evolution, swarm intelligence, and biological behavior to optimize real-world systems efficiently.

In his message, Prof. Arvind Jasrotia, Rector, Kathua Campus, University of Jammu lauded the initiative and highlighted the importance of organizing such expert lectures that expose students to global research trends and interdisciplinary learning opportunities. He appreciated the academic contribution of Dr. Salgotra and encouraged students to pursue innovative research in emerging domains like computational intelligence.

Dr. Sourabh Shastri, In-Charge Head, MCA Department welcomed the speaker and expressed that such interactions bridge the gap between theoretical learning and research-based applications. He further emphasized that exposure to international research perspectives enhances the academic and professional growth of students.

The programme was coordinated by Dr. Bharti Rana. Lt. Amit Sharma, Dr. Sunny Sharma, Dr. Ritu Sharma, Dr. Surekha Phakwarya, and Ms. Princee Verma were also present.
