NSS Volunteers of Campus Unit-VI visit Old Age Home, Kathua under Sewa Parv

Sept. 22, 2025: As part of the Sewa Parv celebrations, the NSS Volunteers of Campus Unit-VI, Kathua Campus, University of Jammu organized a community outreach visit to the Old Age Home, Kathua today. The visit was aimed at promoting the values of service, compassion, and responsibility among students, thereby fostering a strong connection between classroom learning and social responsibility. The volunteers interacted with the residents of the Old Age Home, shared their time, and extended gestures of care and support, making the occasion memorable for both students and the elderly.

Prof. Vishav Raksha, Convener, NSS Campus Units, University of Jammu in her message emphasized that such activities help inculcate empathy and humanitarian values in the youth, enabling them to become more responsible citizens of society. She encouraged the volunteers to continue engaging in such noble activities that create meaningful social impact.

Prof. Arvind Jasrotia, Rector, Kathua Campus, University of Jammu in his message appreciated the efforts of the NSS Unit-VI and highlighted that these initiatives not only strengthen the spirit of community service but also uphold the ethos of Sewa Parv.

Dr. Hema Gandotra, Programme Coordinator, NSS Campus Units, University of Jammu in her message lauded the initiative and remarked that such visits sensitize students towards the needs of senior citizens. She emphasized that community service plays a vital role in shaping socially responsible individuals.

Dr. Sourabh Shastri, Programme Officer, NSS Campus Unit-VI expressed satisfaction over the enthusiastic participation of the volunteers. He remarked that interacting with the elderly was a learning experience for the students, instilling in them a sense of gratitude and social responsibility.

A total of 26 NSS volunteers (NSS Campus Unit-VI) from MBA,  MCA and UIET departments of Kathua Campus, University of Jammu enthusiastically participated in the visit, making the outreach programme a meaningful and impactful experience.
