Dhanvantri Library, University of Jammu today organized a Book Exhibition on Science for Skill, Innovation, and Incubation, in honour of National Science Day l, promoting scientific learning and research exploration. The event aimed to enhance knowledge, encourage innovation, and support skill development among students and researchers by providing access to a diverse collection of scientific literature.
The exhibition was inaugurated by Prof. Alka Sharma, Director of SIIEDC, University of Jammu, who emphasized the importance of cultivating a scientific mindset and promoting innovation. A major highlight was an interactive session with Dr. Jatinder Manhas, Associate Professor in Computer Science and IT, and Dr. Sandeep Arya, Assistant Professor in the Department of Physics. Staff and students of the DYD Programme actively participated in discussions on emerging scientific advancements and their real-world applications.
The event witnessed enthusiastic participation from teaching and non-teaching staff, research scholars, and students of the DYD Programme, who explored an extensive collection of books spanning various scientific domains. The exhibition provided an engaging and enriching experience, sparking curiosity and deepening appreciation for science.
Prof. Alka Sharma praised the library's vast collection, highlighting its value, particularly for students of the DYD Programme. Additionally, a lecture on the role of Artificial Intelligence and the contributions of Nobel Prize laureates in science added depth to the thematic focus of the exhibition.
Among others present on the occasion included Prof. Rajeev Rattan Sharma, Prof. Sucheta Pathania, Prof. Monika Chaddha, Prof. Rahul Gupta, Prof. Satya Paul, Prof. Parmil Kumar, Dr. Pallavi Sachdeva, Dr. Chinmoyee Maharana, and Dr. Manish Kumar along with library professionals and officers. Their presence emphasized the significance of such initiatives in advancing a culture of scientific inquiry and knowledge-sharing at the university.
The event was organised under the guidance of Dr. Vikram Singh Sahi (I/C Librarian) and coordinated by Mr. Rakesh Kumar (Deputy Librarian) as the event convener, the exhibition presented a carefully curated selection of books on science, skill development, and innovation.
