Department of Commerce, University of Jammu, organised an educational visit for M.Com.IV Sem students to National Bank for Agriculture and Rural Development (NABARD) Regional Office, Jammu on 24 January, 2025.
The delegation, comprising students and faculty members, was warmly received by Shri Bhallamudi Sridhar, Chief General Manager (CGM), NABARD Jammu, along with the General Manager and the NABARD team. The students were accompanied by Dr. Jyoti Sharma and Dr. Rupa Mahajan.
The visit aimed to provide exposure to NABARD’s contributions to India’s agricultural and rural development sectors and NABARD’s historical background. The organization’s vision to drive sustainable rural and agricultural development was emphasized.
The session also shed light on NABARD’s organizational framework and also highlighted various initiatives such as the CRAFI Card (1989). The NABARD team provided an overview of various internships and placement opportunities available.
Students toured the NABARD office and explored its ongoing efforts in integrated rural development, direct lending, and statutory supervision. The visit served as a platform to understand NABARD’s significant role in shaping rural banking and agricultural policies in India.
