In a landmark achievement, the University of Jammu’s women’s weightlifting team has secured qualification for the prestigious All India Inter-University Weightlifting (Women) Championship 2024-25, marking a significant milestone in the university’s sporting history. 

The team participated in the North-East Inter-University (Women) Championship 2024-25, hosted by Lovely Professional University, Punjab. The six-member squad included Priya Mehra, Riya Kumari, Maseeba Kouser, Ekam Kour, Vanshika, and Koushki, under the expert guidance of weightlifting coach Mr. Ravi Singh, whose dedicated training and mentorship were instrumental in their success.

Out of the six participants, Maseeba KouserEkam Kour, and Koushki have achieved the remarkable feat of qualifying for the All India Inter-University Championship. Their outstanding performance is a testament to their hard work, determination, and unwavering spirit, serving as an inspiration to budding athletes across the region.

Congratulating the team on their exceptional performance, Dr. Daud Iqbal Baba, Director, Directorate of Sports and Physical Education, University of Jammu, expressed pride in their accomplishment. He commended their dedication and highlighted the university’s increasing emphasis on sports and physical education as a cornerstone of holistic development.
