The boarder’s and management of Girls' Hostels at the University of Jammu comes together to be a part of Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyaan which is a flagship campaign to create awareness and reach youth and society for understanding the gravity of substance abuse. The program aimed at engaging youth and converge the activities done by all the stakeholders for a common goal of making India free of substance abuse.
In her address Prof. Shashi Manhas, Provost of Girls' Hostels emphasized the need of such program and also told only through early prevention and community engagement we can achieve the goal for a healthier and happier society thus encouraging a collective effort towards eliminating substance abuse.
Dr Chinmoyee Maharana, Warden Sarojini Naidu shared information about mechanisms and pathway by which brain become addicted. She shared the information and emphasized on rehabilitation programs for the ones who is addicted to substance abuse. Dr Sonia M, R/Warden CBGH shared her views how meditation can help to overcome addiction. Dr Meenakshi, Warden CBGH, Dr Skarma, Warden PDGH, Office assistants Mrs Rupinder, Mrs Seema, Mrs Dimple, Mrs Jyotsna along with all staff and their families took part in this event.
The highlights of the program were slogan writing and poster making followed by Nukkad Natak participated enthusiastically by boarders which brought awareness among the young boarders and staff of all the four of the Girls’ Hostels. The slogans and posters made by young boarders were displayed and they showcased their talent while being a part of this Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyaan. The emphasis was given to spread the young generation and family members of all staff and employees of al the Girls hostels. This program not only brought awareness but also got the sense of responsibility in all the stakeholders to make Bharat Nasha Mukt.
