Career is a journey and career counselling is a guiding force. Selecting a career is a tough decision on which future life depends. Counselling can really be useful for the students as it gives student a general idea about the career opportunities available for them and how to choose them. To keep this objective in mind, Employment Information cum Advisory Bureau, Department of Lifelong Learning, University of Jammu today organised a career counselling workshop for the students of class 11th and 12th in the premises of Govt. Boys Higher Secondary School, Bakshi Nagar, Jammu.
The workshop was organised under the overall supervision of Dr. Priyanka Sharma, Director, Department of Lifelong Learning, University of Jammu. Dr. Ranjana Sharma, principal of the school formally welcomed the guests and spoke that career counselling is a process of gaining knowledge that will help the students to make a proper career plan.
Dr. Rockey Gupta, Associate Professor, Department of Electronics, JU and Dr. Shubhra Jamwal, Assistant Professor, Govt. College of Education, Jammu were the resource persons. Dr. Rewa Khajuria, Counsellor, EIAB, DLL coordinated the programme. Prof. Rockey Gupta informed the students about the career prospects and further study options after completing schooling in Science stream. Dr. Shubhra Jamwal apprised the students about importance of good communication skills with various activities.
About 72 students of the school while giving feedback appreciated the programme. They were very much interested in knowing the options available for them as board exams are approaching and they are in dire need of such programmes. The coordinator and teachers of the school also attended the programme. Madam Sangeeta presented formal vote of thanks.
