In alignment with the visionary initiative of the Hon’ble Vice Chancellor, University of Jammu to connect cultural events more closely with students, the ‘Display Your Talent 2024 – Ravi Zone’ was officially inaugurated today. The event was organized by the Department of Students Welfare, University of Jammu in collaboration with Kathua Campus, University of Jammu. This vibrant cultural festival spans a total of three days from 19-11-2024 to 21-11-2024. Over the course of the events, students from ten Colleges of Ravi Zone will showcase their creativity through 23 competitions across 27 categories, including music, dance, literary arts, fine arts, and theatre.
This highly anticipated inaugural Display Your Talent event kicked off today with great enthusiasm and fervor, welcoming guests and participants from all corners of the Ravi Zone. In the inaugural event, Prof. Parkash Antahal, Dean Students Welfare, University of Jammu was the Chief Guest and key dignitaries in attendance included Prof. Arvind Jasrotia, Rector, Kathua Campus, Dr. Pritam Singh, Associate Dean Students Welfare, Dr. Nisha Kapoor and Dr. Tsering Yangzom, Members, Campus Cultural Committee, University of Jammu, Dr. Sourabh I/c Head MCA, Mr. Amit Sharma Asstt. Professor MCA, Dr. Pankaj Khajuria, Asstt. Registrar, Kathua Campus, Faculty Members from different Degree Colleges of Ravi Zone, staff and students.
Speaking on the occasion, Prof. Parkash Antahal, Dean Students Welfare, highlighted how such platforms play a crucial role in nurturing creativity, fostering talent, and providing individuals with the opportunity to showcase their skills to a wider audience.
Earlier, Prof. Arvind Jasrotia, rector kathua campus, expressed his delight in hosting such a dynamic gathering.
The first day of Display Your Talent at Ravi Zone witnessed an impressive display of talent, with students participating in a wide array of competitions. These included Group Song (Indian), Light Vocal Solo, Folk Instrumental Solo, Collage, Cartooning, Poster Making, Photography and Installation.
Results from Day One:
The 1st Prize in Poster Making was awarded to Gitika, GDC Samba, 2nd Prize Sania Sambyal, Kathua Campus and the 3rd Prize Saroj Kumari, GDC Samba. Further, in the Collage competition, the 1st Prize was claimed by Sidhi Jamwal, Kathua Campus, the 2nd Prize Manyata Sambyal, Kathua Campus and the 3rd Prize Sonali Sharma, GDC Samba. For Cartooning, the 1st Prize was won by Priya Bandral, Kathua Campus and the 2nd Prize Nikhil Dogra, Kathua Campus. Furthermore, in the Installation event, Suhani & Vandita, Kathua Campus bagged the 1st Prize. The Photography competition saw Pranav Sharma, Kathua winning the 1st Prize, Balbir Sharma, GDC Samba 2nd Prize,and Sharad verma, GDC Vijaypur 3rd Prize. In Light Vocal Solo, the 1st Prize was awarded to Habil Shubh, GDC Hiranagar, the 2nd Prize Tapasvi Podwal, GDC Samba, and the 3rd Prize Ankush, GDC Kathua. For Folk Instrumental Solo, Umesh, GDC Kathua won the 1st Prize, Abhay Pajnathia, Kathua Campus secured the 2nd Prize, and Suneel Kumar, GDC Kathua the 3rd Prize. Finally, in the Group Song competition, GDC Kathua was awarded the 1st Prize, GDC Hiranagar the 2nd Prize, and GDC Samba the 3rd Prize.
The proceedings of the inaugural were conducted by Dr. Nomita Sharma and Dr. Sourabh delivered the formal vote of thanks.
