DLL organized Career counseling programme at Govt. Boys Higher Secondary School, Bishnah

Education has multifarious goals to achieve, one amongst them is earning livelihood. Landing into safe livelihood choice is dependent on right career path caught at tender stage of life shaping young minds regarding right career choices and fetching adequate skills to be able to land in the desired careers is the job of an educationist. To fulfill the said objective the Department of Lifelong Learning through Employment Information & Advisory Bureau organized a Career counselling workshop for the students of class 11th and 12th in premises of Govt. Boys Higher Secondary School, Bishnah, Jammu.

The visionary Vice-Chancellor of University of Jammu Prof. Umesh Rai an educationist of par excellence strongly recommends that all educational interventions must include employability & employability skills at the core.

Dr. Priyanka Sharma, Director, Department of Lifelong Learning believes that competencies enhancement & skill building should be core of any educational intervention. Keeping in view the spirit, she has undertaken number of short-term & long-term activities through Department of Lifelong Learning. The Workshop is one amongst the series of such activities planned & envisaged by DLL.

Dr. Rekha, Principal of the school formally welcomed the guests. She appreciated the guidance which are being provided to the students at this time and advised them to work hard and expressed gratitude to EIAB, Department of Lifelong Learning, University of Jammu.

The special resource persons for the workshop were Prof. Ramini Gupta, Department of Physics, University of Jammu and Dr. Harleen Kour, Sr. Assistant professor, Department of Commerce, University of Jammu.

Prof. Ramini Gupta informed the students about the career prospects and further study options after completing schooling in Science stream. Dr. Harleen Kour apprised them about new and emerging careers.

Dr. Rewa Khajuria, Counselor, EIAB, Department of Lifelong Learning coordinated the programme. About 35 students attended the programme. They were very much interested in knowing the options available for them as board exams are approaching and they are in dire need of such programs. The coordinator Ms. Sonika Sharma and teachers of the school also attended the programme.
