The team of School of Hospitality and Tourism Management (SHTM), University of Jammu represented by Bhavna Gupta, Tanishka Singh Kotwal and Arinut Sharma, MBA (TTM) 3rd semester students bagged the first prize in the prestigious National Level Event ‘Venture Voice – Tourism Entrepreneurship Development’ competition held at Chandigarh University. A total of 93 teams from across the country participated in the event.
Prof Alka Sharma, Director, SIIEDC and Dean, Faculty of Business Studies congratulated the students who took an initiative to showcase their talent and represented University of Jammu at the National Level. She urged to students to think out of the box and leverage the business opportunities to become entrepreneurs.
Prof Anil Gupta, Director, SHTM in his address shared that SHTM is committed to promote entrepreneurship among its students. He further informed that many of the alumni of the department are first generation entrepreneurs and have made a mark at national level.
The team showcased “Duggar Darshan” with a business proposition to empower local women, use sustainable infrastructure and processes, promote local culture, cuisine, art & craft and music. Their idea was highly appreciated by the judges and organizers of the event. In recognition of their outstanding efforts and innovation, they were awarded a cash prize of INR 25,000.
The team was mentored under the guidance of Dr. Suvidha Khanna and other faculty members including Dr. Poonam Sharma, Dr. Nikita Dogra, Dr. Priyanka Sharma, Dr. Honeyka Mahajan, Tapas Tandon and Taniya Sharma. During the ceremony, Ms. Mehak Choudhary, MBA (TTM) 3rd semester student who recently secured Gold in team event and Silver in individual event at the Inter Collegiate Fencing Tournament was also felicitated.
