P.G. DEPARTMENT OF COMMERCE, UNIVERSITY OF JAMMU FACILITATED AN INDUSTRIAL VISIT FOR THE STUDENTS OF M.COM.

The Department of Commerce, University of Jammu successfully facilitated an Industrial Visit for its M.Com. Students to Shri Kedarnath Stonex, a prominent manufacturer and trader of granite in Kishangarh, Rajasthan from 19-25 April, 2024. The visit provided an invaluable opportunity for the students to gain practical insight into the intricate operations of the granite industry specializing in black, brown, and red granite varieties. Accompanied by the faculty members and industry expert, the enthusiastic cohort of M.Com. students delved into the heart of Kishangarh, renowned globally for its rich reservoir of the high quality granite. Guided tours through granite trading hubs and manufacturing units illuminated the students on various aspects of the industry including extraction, processing, quality control measures, marketing and export. During the visit, students engaged in interactive sessions with professionals, management team and skilled workers, fostering meaningful exchanges on market trends, business strategies and the economic significance of the granite sector. These discussions not only broadened the students’ understanding of industrial practices but also inspired them to explore potential avenues for entrepreneur ventures and career prospects in the field.

Further, the visit provided the platform for students to witness the first hand socio-economic impact of the granite industry on the local community. Through interactions with workers and stakeholders, students gained a nuanced appreciation for the industrial role in fostering economic development and employment opportunities in the region.
