JU’s dept of Psychology organized group discussion under Viksit Bharat@2047

In honour of Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi’s vision for “Viksit Bharat@2047 with the Voice of Youth”, the Department of Psychology, University of Jammu, held a group discussion. The event, guided by Dr. Sarita Sood, Assistant Professor, engaged students and scholars in exploring various sub-themes such as empowered Indians, thriving and sustainable economies, innovation, science and technology, good governance and security, and India in the world, fostering dialogue to contribute towards the development of India. Prof. Satnam Kour, the Head of Department, shared her ideas at the event. Approximately 30-35 students engaged in a group discussion, contributing suggestions on various themes.

In a ground-breaking exploration, Amandeep Kour Nanda, Research research scholar, delved into the realms of empowering India and the indispensable role psychologists play in this transformative journey. Students also stressed the importance of a clearer roadmap, especially regarding assessment methods, curriculum changes and the integration of new technologies. Participants discussed the importance of active citizenship, ranging from civic engagement to sustainable practices to promote change in India. The consensus revolved around cultivating a sense of responsibility and contributing positively to the community, thus fostering a collective environment conducive to progress. Discussions also centred on individuals viewpoints towards Utopia. While acknowledging the complexity of such an ideal, participants highlighted the role of empathy, inclusivity, and innovation in working collectively towards a society that prioritises equality and well-being.

Prof. Satnam Kour, Head of the Department of Psychology, University of Jammu, played a pivotal role in overseeing the coordination of the program. The programme’s success was enhanced by the enthusiastic participation of faculty members, research scholars and students.
