Display Your Talent-2023’ organised by the Department of Students Welfare, University of Jammu concluded here today at University of Jammu with huge fanfare. Prof. Bechan Lal, esteemed Vice Chancellor, Cluster University of Jammu was the Chief Guest on the occasion. Winners of different events were felicitated by the Chief Guest Prof. Bechan Lal in the presence of Prof. Anju Bhasin, Dean Academic Affairs, University of Jammu, Prof. Rajiv Rattan Sharma, (Director CDC), Prof. Prakash Antahal (Dean Students Welfare), Prof. Monika Chadha (Chairperson, Campus Cultural Committee), Prof. Sarika Manhas (Co-Chairperson, Campus Cultural Committee), Dr. Pritam Singh (Associate Dean SW) Dr. Garima Gupta (Assistant Dean SW), Dr. A.R. Manhas (Dy. Proctor) and members of Campus Cultural Committee.
In his address, Prof. Bechan lal congratulated the organizing team behind this vibrant mega festival, which is full of enthusiasm and aspiration. He cited the example of Ancient Indian Learning Methodology, which was inclusive and focused on multifaceted growth and development of the students and beautifully related it to the intention behind the National Education Policy of Govt. of India. He also complemented Prof. Umesh Rai, Vice Chancellor, University of Jammu for his innovative approach towards such endeavours. He also expressed gladness over participation of a large number of students from colleges located at far and distant areas of Jammu province.
Prof. Anju Bhasin, in her address, congratulated Dean Students Welfare and his entire team for conducting ‘Display Your Talent’, a mega cultural festival of music, dance, theatre, fine arts & literary activities successfully. She congratulated all the participants as it was because of their active participation that a mega event of this scale could be held successfully. She asserted that such activities play a major role in shaping the overall personalities of the students.
Prof. Prakash Antahal, Dean Students Welfare, welcomed the gathering. He congratulated all the participants for their energetic participation and acknowledged the contribution of each and every one in making this event a grand success. He advised the winners to gear up their preparations to represent the University of Jammu in upcoming North Zone Youth Festival at Punjabi University Patiala.
Chairperson, Campus Cultural Committee, Prof. Monika Chadha presented a brief report of Display Your Talent 2023. She informed that 27 events of music, dance, theatre, Fine arts and literary activities were conducted in Display Your Talent which is in synchronization with the events of Association of Indian Universities. For fair judgement and for providing exposure to the students, the department had invited eminent artists and trainers from Jammu, Punjab, New Delhi, Chandigarh, Mumbai etc. including eminent alumni who have represented the University at Zonal and National platforms. Co-Chairperson, Campus Cultural Committee, Prof. Sarika Manhas presented the Vote of Thanks and Dr. Garima Gupta ably conducted the Valedictory Function. Two Cultural presentations; Folk Dance by the team of GCW, Udhampur and Singing by Varsha Jamwal from GCW Parade were also presented on the occasion.
Over All Champion Trophy was won by the Institute of Music and Fine Arts. Over All Runners-Up Trophy was secured by GCW Udhampur. Over All Trophy for Best Student was awarded to Andrew from IMFA, Over All Trophy for Best performance in Theatricals was awarded to GCW, Udhampur. Over All Trophy for Best performance in Fine Arts was awarded to Skanda Sharma from IMFA. Over All Trophy for Best performance in Music was awarded to IMFA. Best Team in Debating was from Department of Journalism & Media Studies, JU. Over All Trophy for Best performance in Quiz was awarded to UIET, Kathua.
Student Cultural Representatives who managed the events included Urvashi, Kanya Sharma, Rishika Sharma, Avleen Kour Janvi, Mohneesh Chowdhary, Idrees Falahi, Suriya Banoo, Nighit Mir, Seeta, Hannan Dar, Rajdeep Singh Vivek Soodan, Angraz Singh, Bipasha Raina, Shehzad Ali. Overall management was looked after by Kulbhushan Khakur, Balwant Slathia, R P Singh, Arif Paul, Jatinder and Sachin Sharma.
The events of DSW are conceived, planned and organised by the team consisting of Prof. Prakash Antahal (Dean Students Welfare), Prof. Monika Chadha (Chairperson, Campus Cultural Committee), Prof. Sarika Manhas (Co-Chairperson, Campus Cultural Committee), Dr. Pritam Singh (Associate Dean SW), Dr. Garima Gupta (Assistant Dean, SW), Dr. Shallu Sharma & Dr. A.R. Manhas (Deputy Proctors), members of Campus Cultural Committee, Ms Mansi Mantoo (Media Officer), Sumeet Sharma (Drama Instructor) and Ifra Kak (Cultural Officer). The events were witnessed by the members of Campus Cultural Committee, teachers, students, scholars of the University of Jammu and prominent members of the civil society.
