JU's "Utsaah," the Clubs, commenced its celebrations in lieu of the upcoming Foundation Day of the UT

95456The Main Campus of the University of Jammu was abuzz with activity and enthusiasm as “Utsaah,” the Clubs, commenced its celebrations in lieu of the upcoming Foundation Day of the UT of Jammu and Kashmir, themed “Badalta Jammu Kashmir, Badhta Jammu Kashmir, Aman aur Taraqqi ki nayi Tasweer.” The Painting Club, Literary Club, Film Club, and Photography Club under the coordinator ship of Mr. Rakesh Sharma, Dr. Sadaf Shah, Prof. Suman Jamwal, and Dr. Pritam Singh, respectively, organised multifarious activities under the aegis of “Utsaah,” the Clubs. 

Dr. Satnam Kour Raina, Professor in the Department of English, Chairperson, “Utsaah,” the Clubs, and Head, Department of Psychology was the host for the occasion and offered the official welcome address. While addressing the audience she presented a detailed report of the intra-university activities of the day and shared the prime highlights. She applauded the efforts of participants and encouraged them through her captivating anecdotes. 

The chief guest for the valedictory of the various competitions held throughout the day was Prof. Monika Sethi, Chairperson, Campus Cultural Committee, Department of Students’ Welfare, and Convener, Community Radio. In her remarks she applauded the fervour of the young talent that made the event a success. She further praised the agility of the coordinators of the respective clubs in curating such a grand and successful even in a short period of time. 

The programme began with the presenting of the memento followed by the awarding of the prizes. Amongst the participants who excelled in various activities and secured prizes were Skanda Sharma, Jhanvi, and Preeti Manhas in the field of Painting, and Maithili Manhas, Aatiqa Malik, and Bhavana Sharma in Essay Writing Competition who secured first, second, and third positions, respectively. In the field of photography the three coveted positions were procured by Mohd Kamil, Chetan Atri, and Pranav, respectively. Rajveer Singh obtained the first prize in the category of Film Making. Amongst these names special mention must be made for Arvi who received a certificate of appreciation. 

The adjudicators for the gamut of events were renowned personalities including Shri Bhushan Kesar (an eminent artist in the field of painting), Shri Jang Singh Verma (a columnist and celebrated artist), Prof. Harshvardhan (Head, Department of Painting, Central University of Himachal Pradesh), Dr. Vikas Dogra ( Assistant Professor, GCW, Parade and a photographer of national repute), Ms. Phalguni Katoch (Graphic Designer, Film Maker, and Entrepreneur), and Ms. Bhagwati (Department of Hindi, University of Jammu). Among those who graced the occasion with their presence were Dr. Amarjeet Singh, Faculty of Applied Arts, IMFA.  

The programme culminated with the official vote of thanks which was presented by Dr. Sadaf Shah, Coordinator, The Literary Club and Associate Professor, Department of English, University of Jammu where she thanked each and everyone for making this event a huge success.
