JU, Dean Research Studies, in collaboration with Bhabha Atomic Research Organised a one-day ‘Scientific and Technical Outreach Programme’

63710The office of Dean Research Studies in collaboration with Bhabha Atomic Research Centre, Mumbai organised a one day ‘Scientific and Technical Outreach Programme’ on 10th of October in the Brig. Rajinder Singh Auditorium of Jammu University. Vice-Chancellor, University of Jammu Professor Umesh Rai was the chief guest of the programme. The programme started with a preliminary quiz followed by inaugural session, a series of lectures, interactive sessions, skits and final quiz. The inaugural session progressed with the addresses by dignitaries including Vice -Chancellor Professor Umesh Rai, Dean Research Studies Professor Anju Bhasin, Smt. Heema Rao, Head, Public awareness & foreign language section, BARC, and Shri. R.K.B. Yadav.

Dean Research Studies Professor Anju Bhasin during her address emphasised the need of such collaborative programmes in the light of National Education Policy. Vice Chancellor of the University, Professor Umesh Rai also highlighted the need of such programmes for development of scientific attitude among students in his address.9324 He also congratulated the BARC members for organising such an outstanding event in collaboration with the University of Jammu. The outreach programme consisted of a series of lectures by delegates of BARC, on topics such as, Radiation safety in health and environment by Shri R.K.B Yadav, Nuclear reactor by Shri S. Mondal, Food irradiation Technology: A need of hour by Shri R. K Mishra, and Innovation and Opportunities in BARC by Smt. Heema Rao. The outreach programme was attended by 170 students and scholars from various science departments. Bhabha Atomic Research Centre presented participation certificates to all the participants. Quiz held in two rounds, Sonakshi Sasan and Jasleen kaur won first prize, Shivani Sharma and Monica won the second prize, Shubham Singh and Vishal Sharma stood third whereas, the consolation prize was given to Sahil Kumar and Damini. Professor Satya Paul from Department of Chemistry concluded the programme with the Vote of thanks.
