Department of Environmental Sciences, University of Jammu and Green Campus Task Force (GCTF-JU) jointly with the Department of Ecology, Environment and Remote Sensing (DEERS), Govt. of J&K, UT organized Campus Cleanliness Drive in the University to be part of the “Mission LIFE” Campaign initiated by MoEFCC, under the theme “BEAT THE PLASTIC POLLUTION”. Prof. Piyush Malaviya, Head, the Department of Environmental Sciences, introduced the theme of the drive and highlighted the importance of such campaigns. “Well-maintained surroundings always contribute to a healthy environment and a clean workplace leads to higher productivity and efficiency in work”, he said while addressing the participants. The drive was organized to develop an attitude of concern and to provide necessary skills to the University students in handling and promoting waste management at individual levels. The drive was coordinated by Dr. Deepika Slathia, Member Secretary, GCTF-JU. Dr. Rakesh Kumar, Dr. Meenakshi Khajuria, students, scholars and non-teaching staff of the Department of Environmental Sciences, and Ms. Hency Gurtoo, Mr. Zubair and their team from DEERS actively participated in the drive.
