The NCC Cadet Corps, Senior Wing of University of Jammu attended maiden outstation residential Annual Training Camps (ATC-J1) from 08 May to 17 May 2023 held at Nagrota by 2 J&K Girls Bn, NCC under the aegis of NCC Gp HQ, Jammu at NCC Camping Ground, Nagrota. The basic objectives of the camp were:
(a) To impart training to the NCC cadets with special emphasis to develop service qualities of leadership and self-reliance.
(b) To give cadets experience in teamwork, adventure, physical endurance and foster sense of self-discipline and National Integration.
(c) Provide an opportunity to live together and thereby cultivate in them the ideas of team spirit, camaraderie, community development and social service.
(d) To emphasize on stress free and healthy life style through Yoga and awareness on health and hygiene.
(e) To prepare cadets for 'B' and 'C' cert examination. Camp Competitions and resultant employment opportunities in terms of getting commissioned into various defence services.
The objectives of the camp were experientially realised by the cadets by participating in various events spread over 10 days that included firing competition, drill competition, obstacle competition, best cadet competition, tent pitching competition, drawing/ sketch competition and various cultural programmes.
The underlying motive for promoting cadets for such like exercises and training programmes was to inculcate amongst the young citizens of the region, specifically female cadets from the University of Jammu, the essence of character, comradeship, discipline, secular outlook, the spirit of adventure and ideals of selfless service.
It is pertinent to mention that the NCC Cadets of University of Jammu won gold medal and Rank 1 in sports category and literary competitions among all cadets that were at camp from different academic institutions of Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir.
The Annual Training Camp-ATC was coordinated by Dr. Isha Sharma, Associate NCC Officer of NCC Wing, University of Jammu under the guidance of 2 J&K, Girls Battalion.
