Employment Information Cum Advisory Bureau (EIAB), Department of Lifelong Learning (DLL), in collaboration with Govt. Degree College, Sidhra today organised a career counselling programme in “Entrepreneurship growth and Competitveness” and “Hospitality and Tourism Management” for the students of the college in its premises.
The programme was held under the guidance of Dr. Kavita Suri, Director, Department of Lifelong Learning, University of Jammu and Prof. B.B. Anand, Principal of the college. In his inaugural address, Prof. B. B. Anand shared that his college is always keen to organise the activities which are for the benefit of the students and this collaborations would definitely help them at this crucial stage.

The special resource persons were Dr. Shallu Sehgal, Senior Assistant Professor, Department of Economics, University of Jammu and Ms. Neetu Dhar, Trainer for soft skills and personality development. Dr. Shallu Sehgal informed the students about the concept of Entrepreneurship,characteristics of an Entrepreneur, different opportunities and government initiatives to promote Entrepreneurship (MUDRA, ATAL, Start up JK, Youth Start up, Loan Scheme, Himayat etc.) Ms. Neetu Dhar in her presentation apprised the students about careers in Hospitality and Tourism management. The career awareness programme was being coordinated by Dr. Rewa Khajuria, Counsellor, EIAB, DLL. She in her address said that career counselling cell of DLL organizes various awareness programmes for the benefit of students of University, affiliated colleges and higher secondary schools. She also complemented the principal, GDC Sidhra for his positive response to this activity.

About 48 students of different semesters of the college interacted with the resource persons and clarified their doubts and queries and gained many new insights in the field of their upcoming careers. The faculty members of the college who were presented at the occasion included Dr. Punam Rani, Prof. Deepa Kak and Prof. Mussarat Chowdhary. The programme concluded with the formal vote of thanks given by Dr. Mussarat Chowdhary.
