University of Jammu held a meeting of functionaries including Dean Research Studies, Faculty Deans, Director, College Development Council, Registrar, Director, Directorate of Distance Education, Directors, Rectors/HODs and senior officers of the University to celebrate its 56th ranking in National Institutional Ranking Framework (NIRF)-2022 among the Universities which was 66th last year, thereby improving its rank by 10 places. The rank was announced by the Ministry of Education, Government of India on Friday. It is pertinent to mention here that the University of Jammu had volunteered to participate in the National Institutional Ranking Framework (NIRF) introduced by the Ministry of Education, Government of India. While expressing his gratitude to Hon’ble Chancellor and Lieutenant Governor, Sh Manoj Sinha for his continuing support and guidance to the University of Jammu, Prof Umesh Rai, Vice-Chancellor, University of Jammu said that “the University will maintain and improve its standards of academics, research, outreach, infrastructure and student support”. Giving credit to all the stakeholders, he added that “the level of efforts of the faculty, officers, staff, scholars and students can be gauged from the fact that the University is consistently performing well in accreditations and rankings by different agencies”. University of Jammu was also been placed in “Band Promising” in Atal ranking of Institutions on Innovation Achievements (ARIIA) last year. Prof Umesh Rai also expressed appreciation to Dr Meenakshi Kilam, Director, DIQA and her entire staff for the credible work and contribution in this regard. Earlier, Prof Rajni Dhingra, Dean Research Studies in her address said that the University has taken various initiatives to give impetus to the quality of research and in days to come, it will for sure be reflected in the ranking of the University. Prof Arvind Jasrotia, Registrar, University of Jammu also expressed his gratitude to the faculty, Officers and staff for their valuable support and hard work. According to Dr. Meenakshi Kilam, Director, DIQA, the process involved the online submission of extensive data pertaining to different aspects of the functioning of the University namely teaching-learning resources, research, professional practice & collaborative performance, graduate outcomes, outreach & inclusivity and perception. She further added that “Securing 56st rank this year after securing 66th rank last year, is a step towards sustenance and enhancement of quality.”
