The Department of Students Welfare, University of Jammu organized a scintillating event, ‘Colours of Music’ today. The event featured eminent singers of JK UT and alumni of ‘Display Your Talent’ (a mega-cultural event of the Department of Students Welfare, University of Jammu) Dr. Mukteshi Sharma, Mr. Narinder Wazir and Ms. Sonali Dogra who mesmerized the audience with their soulful singing. Prof. Manoj K. Dhar, Vice-Chancellor, University of Jammu was the Chief Guest on the occasion. Prof. Dhar has completed his term as the Vice-Chancellor, University of Jammu and today’s event was attributed in his honour, he was also felicitated on the occasion. Those who attended the programme included Prof. Arvind Jasrotia, Registrar, Prof. Jasbir Singh, Controller of Examination, Prof. Satnam Kaur, Director, D.D.E. Prof. Vinay Chauhan, Dean Placement, Prof. Alka Sharma, Prof. Rakesh Vaid, teachers, officers, staff, students and scholars of the University.

While addressing the gathering, Prof. Manoj Dhar, nostalgically remembered his journey in the University of Jammu which he started as student and with consistency and commitment, he got the privilege to lead the institution as Vice-Chancellor and he always tried to perform with integrity and with best of his capabilities. He expressed gladness over bidding adieu as the Vice-Chancellor amid such a wonderful cultural programme which would remain in his cherished memories forever. He thanked all the university colleagues for rendering immense support to him which made it easier for him to undertake a lot of initiatives, the results of which would be experienced by the coming generations.

Earlier, in his welcome address, Prof. Prakash Antahal informed about the programme, he also highlighted some of the prominent initiatives undertaken during the past few years by the University under the leadership of Prof. Manoj Dhar. He asserted that the Department of Students Welfare has chalked out a vibrant calendar of events for the students.

Dr. Mukteshi Sharma appropriately started the cultural programme with classical and Ghazal rendition which gave the evening a befitting take-off, she was followed by vibrant Bollywood numbers by Sh. Narinder Wazir who mesmerized the audience with his charisma. Ms Sonali Dogra, with her soulful voice and power-packed performance propelled the programme to its crescendo. Accomplished musicians who accompanied the singers included Sh. Ashutosh Magotra, Sh. Neeraj Verma, Mr. Sham Bhardwaj, Mr. Kartik, Mr. Vishal, Mr. Zahid, and Mr. Johnny. A short video show-reel on the journey of Prof. Dhar in the campus was also dedicated to him by the cultural representatives.

The faculty from IMFA, teachers from the University, scholars and students who volunteered their services in successfully conducting the competitive activities and cultural programme during recently conducted Science Week Celebrations were also felicitated on the occasion.

Prof. Vishav Raksha presented the formal vote of thanks. The event was organized under the stewardship of Prof. Prakash Antahal (Dean Students Welfare), Prof. Vishav Raksha (Chairperson, Campus Cultural Committee), Prof Sanjana Kaul, Co-Chairperson, Campus Cultural Committee), Prof B.K. Bajaj (Associate Dean SW), Dr. Garima Gupta & Dr. Pritam Singh (Assistants Deans SW) and members of Campus Cultural Committee. Mansi Mantoo, Media Officer and Sumeet Sharma, Drama Instructor coordinated the event. The sound was looked after by Kulbhushan Thakur and Arif Paul. The event was ably conducted by Dr. Garima Gupta Taniya Sharma and Priyatosh Dev, Cultural Representatives also accompanied her. Sunny Singh, Sharmila Chowdhary and Niharika looked after the hall-management.
