Dr. Deepak Sharma, former Research Scholar at the School of Biotechnology, University of Jammu has been selected for the Post Doctoral fellowship at the Department of Plant Science, University of Manitoba, Canada which is one of the reputed and oldest Universities of Canada. After the initial shortlisting he underwent two rounds of interviews for the final selection. He has been recently awarded Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in Biotechnology wherein he focused upon “Understanding the Regulation of Carotenoid Biosynthetic Pathway in Tomato (Solanum lycopersicum L.)” under the supervision of Professor Manoj Kumar Dhar, Vice-Chancellor,University of Jammu, Jammu.

Dr. Deepak had also qualified ICAR-NET in Agricultural Biotechnology in the year 2014. One of the brilliant scholars of the School of Biotechnology, he has published more than 10 research papers during his Ph. D programme, in International journals of repute. He also worked as Senior Research Fellow in the DBT funded research project on Apple Genomics. He has gained expertise in various Biotechnological tools and techniques.

Prof. Manoj K. Dhar has congratulated Dr. Deepak Sharma for bringing laurels to the University and wished him all the best in his career. He described Dr Deepak as a promising young scientist who has worked very meticulously in various projects assigned to him.
