A weeklong online Faculty Development Programme (FDP) on “Machine Learning Fundamentals” concluded today at the Department of Computer Science & IT, Kathua Campus, University of Jammu. The key objective of the FDP was to impart in-depth knowledge and hands-on practice in the area of Machine Learning. The FDP received huge participation from India and abroad. Expert lectures were delivered by eminent resource persons in the area of Machine Learning from reputed institutions. The FDP was organized under the patronage of Dr. Meenakshi Kilam, Rector Kathua Campus, University of Jammu. Dr. Kilam exhorted the faculty to adopt the latest means and methods to promote research and impart world-class quality education to the students. She added that the primary aim of the FDP was to introduce the relevance of Machine Learning in a wide range of academic and real-life problems. She concluded by suggesting the participants to utilize the FDP learning in their research work and assured that more endeavours of organizing such research-oriented programmes shall continue in future too for the welfare of faculty members, research scholars and students. The various resource persons including Prof. S. K. Pandey (Institute of Technology & Science, Ghaziabad), Prof. Anirban Das (University of Engineering & Management, Kolkata), Dr. Surbhi Gupta (Punjab Agricultural University, Ludhiana), Dr. Chetan Dudhagara (Anand Agriculture University, Gujrat), Dr. Jasminder Sandhu (Chitkara University, Punjab), Ms. Surbhi Vijh (KIET Group of Institutions, Ghaziabad), Ms. Disha Sharma (Scoopin, Chandigarh), Prof. Parteek Bhatia (Thapar Institute of Engineering and Technology, Patiala), and Dr. Praphula Jain (GLA University, Uttar Pradesh) highlighted the various aspects related to Machine Learning and its applications during the FDP. Dr. Vivek Sharma, Academic Coordinator, Kathua Campus, University of Jammu said that these types of events are the need of the hour to refresh the knowledge in the domain area. The participants and organizing team also share their views during the valedictory ceremony of the FDP. Dr. Sourabh Shastri, Organizing Secretary of the FDP and Incharge Head, MCA Department, Kathua Campus, University of Jammu presented the FDP report and apprised that 18 technical and 2 non-technical sessions were conducted during the said FDP. He further said that this was due to the cooperation of organizing team who made this event a great success. Mr. Amit Sharma, Coordinator of the FDP presented the formal vote of thanks. The organizing committee of the FDP includes faculty members of the Department; Dr. Sunny Sharma, Ms. Ritika Goyal and Mr. Pranav Ratta.
