To impart various Training Programmes in the field of IECT, University of Jammu today signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with NIELIT, National Institute of Electronics & Information Technology, an Autonomous Scientific Society under the Ministry of Electronics & Information Technology (MeitY), Government of India, having one centre in J & K, co-located in New CampusThe MOU was signed in the presence of Prof. Manoj Kumar Dhar, Vice-Chancellor, University of Jammu by Prof. Jasbir Singh, I/C Registrar, the University of Jammu and by Sh. Deepak Wasan, Executive Director, NIELIT J&K.

Prof. Manoj Dhar appreciated the Head and faculty members of the Department of Computer Science and IT and Electronics, University of Jammu for taking the initiative of preparing this MoU. Prof Dhar said the University Departments must collaborate and extend their association so that the premier institutions can contribute towards skilling and up-skilling of the students enrolled in various courses in the university as well as NIELIT. He further hoped that this MoU would provide different avenues for the students and scholars of computer science.  He further reiterated that NIELIT J&K should also extend the support in assisting IT activities to the non-teaching employees of the University of Jammu.   

Prof. Jasbir Singh also congratulated the faculty members of the Department on the occasion of the signing of the MoU and said that this MoU shall open new opportunities in key industry practices and skills besides providing exposure to live projects and hands-on practical training to the students of MCA, M.Tech and M.Sc. Electronics.

Sh. Deepak Wassan emphasized that MoU will facilitate effective utilization of the intellectual capabilities of NIELIT in the new domains of computer science like IoT, Cyber Security, Cyber forensics, Image processing etc. Sh. Wasan further iterated that in imparting the certificate and diploma courses, NIELIT will take care of the enrolment of students, the conduct of training, assessment, certification etc.   

Prof. Pawanesh Abrol, Head, Department of Computer Science & IT while briefing the objectives informed that the department has been taking various initiatives like organising lectures, FDPs, invited talks, workshops on the latest fields and technologies. Prof. Abrol reiterated that this MoU between NIELIT and Department of Computer Science shall provide significant exposure to the scholars, students and the faculty in running certificate, diploma and degree programmes. Prof. Parveen Lehana, HoD Electronics emphasized that such initiations shall be very significant for the students of electronics as well. Prof. Lalit Sen Sharma, Dr. Shubhnandan S. Jamwal, Sh. Jasbir Singh, Mr. Susheel Gabgotra, Additional Director (A&F), Ms Anita Sharma, Additional Director, Ms. Sarita Kaur, Joint Director NIELIT, Dr. Neeraj Sharma, Spl Sec. to VC, Dr. Suresh Rao, Dr Alka Gupta, Ms. Palak Mahajan, Dr. Sawinder Kaur, were also present on the occasion.
