National Service Scheme (NSS), Unit IV and Office of the Programme Coordinator NSS, University of Jammu, Jammu sponsored by Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports, Govt. of India today successfully organized Social Outreach Exercise for the NSS volunteers of the Unit IV. The basic objective of the expedition was to enrich learning amongst NSS Volunteers by preparing students to be active local citizens by engaging them in service activities that enhance the quality of life for both others and themselves and also undertaking the ownership of community centric issues. The expedition included visiting Govt. High School Dhammi and Govt. Middle School Dhammi and acquaint students about the role of education, career development across different arenas like sports, medicine, engineering and other allied areas. The NSS volunteers also deliberated upon the role of ethics, value system and morale building for creating a society that stands on the foundation of coexistence and cooperation.  

The social outreach expedition was divided into three sessions namely Educational awareness amongst students, Career Development and Role of ethics and value system for building progressive, yet conscious society. The NSS Volunteers spoke to the students of Govt. High School Dhammi and Govt. Middle School Dhammi wherein they deliberated upon the various scholarship schemes, platforms and amenities that can be accessed by the students at primary education level. The students that were 135 in number were also involved in certain experiential exercises that enabled them to build their basic competencies and skills.

The expedition was conceived and conducted under patronage of Prof. Manoj K.Dhar, Hon'ble Vice-Chancellor & Chairman NSS, University of Jammu.

The Social Outreach Expedition was conducted under the supervision and guidance of Prof. Neeru Sharma, Convener, NSS Campus Units, and Dr.Anju Sharma Thappa , NSS Programme Coordinator, University of Jammu, Jammu .

Prof. Neeru Sharma, Convener, NSS Campus Units conveyed satisfaction for the conduct of event and also embarked upon the role of such social outreach expeditions in offline mode that create direct connect between budding socially conscious citizens and higher academic institutions.
