JUVC Releases Travelogues' "Asfar-e-Shohab" written by Prof Shohab

Asfar-e-Shohab” a collection of travelogues' of Prof. Shohab Inayat Malik, Principal IMFA, and H.O.D. Buddhist Studies was today released by Prof. Manoj Kumar Dhar, Vice-Chancellor, University of Jammu. The Book Release function was organized by the Department of Urdu, University of Jammu in the Prof. Gian Chand Jain seminar hall of the Department of Urdu. The function was organized keeping in view the SOP,s of COVID-19. Students, scholars and teaching staff of the IMFA, Urdu department and Buddhist Studies attended the function.

Speaking on the occasion Prof. Manoj Kumar Dhar, Vice-Chancellor, University of Jammu congratulated Prof. Shohab Inayat Malik for publishing a collection of Travelogues titled “Asfar-e-Shohab”. He described Prof. Shohab as a prominent writer of Urdu language and literature, who had travelled to a number of countries in connection with the promotion of Urdu Language. The Travelogues of Egypt, Mauritius, Bangladesh and Pakistan are impressive in the sense that it provides the knowledge of civilization, Language and culture of these countries. Prof. M.K. Dhar further said that Prof. Shohab’s contributions to the development of the University of Jammu could not be ignored as he had organized a number of cultural and literary events which could be remembered for a long time.

            Prof. Qudose Javed former H.O.D Urdu Kashmir University presented a detailed paper on “Asfar-e-Shohab”. He said that Prof. Shohab had travelled to several countries outside India as well as several prominent places in India. He had written travelogues on these places which are very important in the sense that they provide a lot of information regarding the literary, cultural and educational scenario of these countries. His travelogues on Egypt is important in the sense that he had discussed the old civilization of Egypt, similarly, travelogues written on Pakistan provides us with information regarding the language, culture and civilization of people living in Lahore, Islamabad and PoK. After reading the travelogue of Bangladesh one comes to know the poverty of people living in Bangladesh. The love of the people of Bangladesh toward their mother tongue has been also highlighted. The rich literary heritage of Lucknow has been highlighted in the travelogues “mere Lucknow Yatra”. Similarly, the other travel logs which are the parts of collections are highly impressive.

            Speaking on the occasion Aseer Kishtwari too highlighted the qualities of head and heart of Prof. Shohab. He described him not only a urdu writer but also an organizer and Administrator par excellence. He had travelled several countries.He had written these travelogues in a simple language.

            Prof. Mohd Reyaz Ahmad, HOD Urdu who presented a vote of Thanks too congratulated Prof. Shohab Inayat Malik for bringing out this book. It is pertinent to mention here that Prof. Shohab Inayat Malik has already published 22 books in Urdu Language which had been widely appreciated by Urdu world.

      “Asfar-e-Shohab” contain 244 pages. The book has been published by Qasmi Kutub Khana Jammu. The Book has been compiled by Dr.Shahnaz Qadri, HOD Urdu, Govt. P.G. MAM College Jammu
