National Service Scheme (NSS), Campus Units and Office of the Programme Coordinator NSS, University of Jammu, Jammu sponsored by Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports, Govt. of India today successfully concluded National Level Online Creative Writing Competition. In a series of events to honour the 75th Anniversary of India’s Independence, the Online Creative Writing Competition on the theme “What Independence Means to Me”, was organized. The Mahotsav is being celebrated as a Jan-Utsav in the spirit of Jan-Bhagidari. The competition was open to all participants like NSS Volunteers, Students, Scholars, Teachers, Alumni, and Parents etc. For this purpose an online form was designed to upload and submit photographs of scripts. Participants had to write about the theme, which was disclosed when the link was thrown open, and the participants clicked their photographs of their scripts and uploaded it in Pdf format the given Google Link . Link was active only for one and a half hour after which no entry was accepted. Languages to be used were English, Hindi and Urdu.
The competition was divided into various categories of participants which included School Level, College and University Level Participants, numbering more than 50, from all over India. They were from Delhi, West Bengal, Jammu, Ladakh, and Uttar-Pradesh. Maximum marks for competition were 20.Three participants secured 100% while one participant achieved 95% and 2 participants achieved 90%. All the participants were awarded an digital appreciation certificate which was received by them on their e-mail.
Under University/College level and English language script category Ritu Devi from B.Ed.School of Education, Bhaderwah Campus, University of Jammu, secured first position, while Harsimrat Kour from Department of Sociology, University of Jammu, secured 2nd position, the 3rd position is shared by two participants namely Diksha from Department of Library and Information Science ,University of Jammu and Pratyush Sharma ,The Law School, University of Jammu. The Certificates of Merit are won by five participants namely Nabonita Rakshit from Rabindra Bharti, University, Kolkatta, Neha Kumari, Department of Education, University of Jammu, Deeksha Sharma, The Law School, University of Jammu, Anubhuti , Department of English ,University of Jammu and Chahat Rajput ,Department of Economics, University of Jammu.
Under University/College level and Urdu language script category Dimpla Devi and Vijay Kumar from Department of Urdu, University of Jammu, secured first and second position respectively.
While under Hindi Language Category, Ritu Gupta, Associate Professor from Stephens College of Nursing ,Jammu secured First Position while Bindiya Sharma and Shivani Sharma , both from Department of Economics University of Jammu, secured second position, and the third position respectively.
Under School level and English language script category, Peehu Sharma of Standard 10th from Kendriya Vidhalaya, Bantalab, Jammu secured first position, while second position is shared by two participants namely, Stuti Saigal of Standard 8th from Carmel Convent Higher Secondary School, Jammu and Manikarnnnika Sharma of 5th Standard from B.S.F Primary School, Jammu and third position is secured by Jigya Setia of 7th Standard, from Sant Nirankari Girls School, Delhi.
The Adjudicator of the competition - Dr. Rashid Manhas, Sr. Assistant Professor , Department of Urdu, University of Jammu evaluated the scripts of Urdu Language and appreciated the efforts of young minds.
The Adjudicator of the competition who evaluated English and Hindi Language scripts is Dr. Neeraj Sharma, Film maker/ Creative Writer Director, Mumbai Film Industry. He is the first creative and content writer Director from Jammu and Kashmir to work in Bollywood Industry who has got conferred with Doctorate in Creative Writing from National American University, United States. He is also an alumnus of University of Jammu .He appreciated the efforts of participants for the clarity of thoughts and understanding of topic. He further said that the scripts of winners were original, descriptive, well explained relevant and cited with suitable examples and were the perfect examples of creative writing.
Prof. Manoj K.Dhar, Hon'ble Vice-Chancellor & Chairman NSS, University of Jammu, Jammu lauded the efforts of all the participants for the successful conduct of the online event. The online competition was conducted under the supervision and guidance of Prof. Neeru Sharma, Convener, NSS Campus Units, and Dr. Anju Sharma Thappa , NSS Programme Coordinator, University of Jammu, Jammu . Prof. Neeru Sharma, said that such online contests are very helpful to encourage participants to sharpen their minds and update their knowledge about their nation .The event was coordinated by Dr. Meghna Dhar, NSS Programme Officers, NSS Campus Units, University of Jammu, Jammu with Technical Support of Vikas Pandita a Software Engineer ,TCS ,Noida
