DSW, JU organised Online Painting Workshop for Children

In order to provide creative stimulus to children of the university employees, an Online Painting Workshop was inaugurated today which is being organized by the Department of Students Welfare, University of Jammu and Ms. Deepa Soni is the Resource Person for the same. Prof. Arvind Jasrotia, Registrar, University of Jammu, who was the Chief Guest on the occasion complimented the children and their parents for being part of this workshop which aims to utilize their time in creative manner. He also congratulated Dean Students Welfare, Prof. Prakash Antahal, Chairperson Campus Cultural Committee, Prof. Vishav Raksha and their team for continuously organizing meaningful events for the benefit of different stakeholders of University of Jammu. He declared the workshop open. Around 58 children participated in the workshop with excitement and learnt nuances of landscape painting. 

In his welcome address, Prof. Prakash Antahal informed that during such training programmes, children get exposure and platform to enhance their talent and these workshops leave a lasting impression on the young minds which helps in shaping their overall personalities. He also informed that the Department of Students Welfare has planned a series of events for the students and scholars of university departments and affiliated colleges. Prof. Vishav Raksha spoke about the idea of conducting this workshop and expressed her gladness over such a tremendous response for the same. She also introduced the Resource Person of the workshop, Ms. Deepa Soni who not only specializes in acrylics & oils but also explores different art mediums like water colours, resin art, mix media etc. and she has participated in many National and International exhibitions. A graduate in fashion designing, Deepa is also a diploma holder in Basohli Miniature Painting.   

The session was also attended by members of Campus Culture Committee. The event was organised by the Department of Students Welfare under the guidance of Prof. Prakash Antahal, Dean Students Welfare, Prof. Vishav Raksha, Chairperson Campus Cultural Committee, Prof Sanjana Koul, Co-Chairperson, Campus Cultural Committee, Prof. B.K. Bajaj, Associate Dean, SW, Dr. Garima Gupta & Dr. Pritam Singh, Assistant Deans, SW, members of Campus Cultural Committee and was ably conducted by Dr. Sonia Aneja. Mansi Mantoo, Sumeet Sharma and Arif Paul looked after the logistics.
