Bhaderwah Campus, University of Jammu, today organized a comprehensive awareness program under the Systematic Voters’ Education and Electoral Participation (SVEEP) initiative at Lal Ded Auditorium. The program aimed at educating students and faculty about the significance of electoral participation. The event witnessed enthusiastic participation from students, teaching faculty, and staff from all departments of the Bhaderwah Campus.
The Superintendent of Police, Bhaderwah, Mr. Vinod Sharma (JKPS), graced the occasion as the chief guest. In his address, SP Bhaderwah emphasized the pivotal role that students can play as ambassadors of the SVEEP initiative. He urged the students to actively spread awareness among their families and communities about the importance of voting, especially in light of the upcoming Assembly elections in Jammu and Kashmir. Bhaderwah will be going to polls in the first phase on September 18th, and SP Sharma highlighted the critical role of voters in the formation of a new government.
In his special message, by the Rector Bhaderwah Campus, Prof. J P Singh Joorel, he emphasized the crucial importance of participating in the electoral process. He highlighted that the right to vote is a fundamental aspect of democracy, empowering citizens to shape their governance. Prof. Joorel encouraged everyone to take pride in exercising this right, reminding them that a healthy democracy relies on the active involvement of its people. By casting their vote, individuals contribute to the strength and transparency of the democratic system.
The program also featured insightful talks by Dr. Neeraj Sharma, Head of the Institute of Mountain Environment, Bhaderwah Campus, and Dr. Kuljeet Singh, Academic Coordinator of Bhaderwah Campus. Both speakers highlighted the vital role of an informed electorate in the success of a democratic system. They emphasized that voters must be well-versed in the electoral process and the significance of their participation, as it directly impacts the governance and future of the nation. Their addresses encouraged students to not only engage in the voting process but also to educate others about the importance of making informed choices during elections..
Students from the Department of Education Bhaderwah Campus Miss Ayushi Gupta, Miss Komal Thakur, Miss Shalini, and Mr. Shariq also shared their perspectives on the electoral process, emphasizing the power of individual votes in shaping the future of society.
