King Lear Enacted: University of Jammu's English Dept Takes the Stage

The Department of English at the University of Jammu showcased a captivating and innovative site-specific performance of William Shakespeare's timeless classic, King Lear. Under the supervision of Dr. Sadaf Shah, Associate Professor of the English Department, and devised by the Cultural Officer, JU and SNA Yuva Puraskaar awardee, Ifra Kak, this rendition provided scholars and students with a unique and immersive theatrical experience.

This adaptation of King Lear into a site-specific performance offered a fresh perspective on Shakespeare's masterpiece, transporting audiences into the heart of the play where themes of power, betrayal, and familial strife unfolded dynamically. The dedication and hard work of the students involved truly brought Shakespeare's classic tragedy to life in a compelling and unique manner.

This performance of King Lear is an integral part of the MA syllabus, demonstrating the seamless integration of academic study with practical application. This successful Phase I performance sets the stage for Phase II, which will be presented soon.
