One week workshop on “Basics of research methodologies” began today at Department of lifelong Learning, University of Jammu.  In the inaugural function Prof RajniKant, Dean Research Studies & Dean Faculty of Sciences, JU was the chief guest. In his keynote address, he emphasized upon the intrinsic relationship of research with our day- to- day life and its utility for the betterment of society. He also emphasized upon the utilization of various research methods to investigate the use/misuse of various welfare programmes and schemes being run by the government for various sections of the society.

Dr. Jeevan Jyoti (Director-DLL) in her welcome address focused upon the various initiatives being taken up by the department for strengthening research, academics and field initiatives in its various forms.  

Prof. Rishiraj Sharma, President - Business Research Plasma and Associate Dean- Gurudaspur Campus-GNDU was the guest of honor. In his presidential remarks, he focused on the relationship of research with spirituality and delved upon the importance of  being mindful and conscious across the various stages of one’s research. The others present at the inaugural session were Dr. Vivek Sharma, Dr. Pallavi Sachedeva and Dr. Sandeep Singh.

DLL One Week WorkshopThe workshop delegates included teachers, scholars and students from various universities and colleges, namely Mumbai University, University of Jammu, SMVDU-Katra, Central University of Jammu, Govt. College for Women Parade, Govt. College of Education, canal road Jammu , MAM  college-Jammu.

The first two sessions focused  on research, stages of research, design, sampling techniques, sample size and its determination were conducted by Prof. Rishiraj whereas the third session was conducted by Dr. Amanjot Singh, Assistant Professor, LPU wherein he gave the hands on experiences about the  software SPSS like data entry, data export, data coding and other operations of  SPSS.

The brief about the workshop was introduced by Dr. Pallavi Sachdeva (coordinator of the workshop) and the formal vote of thanks was presented by Dr. Sandeep Singh (co-coordinator of the workshop).
