The Mother Tongue Day was celebrated with gaiety and in a grand manner by P.G. Department of Dogri, University of Jammu. Prominent Dogri Writers and Scholars who were awarded various awards in the field of Dogri language during 2022-23 at national as well as at state level which includes Padamshree Mohan Singh, Prof. Veena Gupta, Dr. Nirmal Vinod, Sh. Dhian Singh, Sh. Rajeshwar Singh ‘Raju’, Dr. Nirmal Sareen and Dr. Ashu Sharma were felicitated by the department on this occasion. They all were presented Shawls and Mementoes. A large number of students, scholars, faculty members of language departments of the University and intellectuals were present on this occasion.
Prof. Sushma Sharma, HOD Dogri while welcoming the awardees and audience, congratulated all on this auspicious day, and emphasized the importance and relevance of Mother Tongue in the psychological and social growth of an individual, which leads to the growth of the society as a whole.
A colourful cultural programme was also presented by the students of the department on this occasion. Earlier, all the awardees also spoke on this occasion and shared their experiences of life with the audience.
The proceedings of the programme were conducted by Dr. Padam Dev Singh, Asstt. Professor of the Department whereas the Dr. Sandeep Dubey, another Asstt. Professor of the department presented the vote of thanks at the conclusion of the programme.
