Institution’s Innovation Council, IIC-University of Jammu in collaboration with International Centre for Cross-Cultural Research and Human Resource Management (ICccR& HRM), University of Jammu organised a session on “Innovation and Entrepreneurship as a Career Opportunity” with an objective of providing entrepreneurial insights and the roadmap for adopting entrepreneurship as a career choice to the students who attended the session from different disciplines and specializations. Professor Susheel Kumar Sharma, President IIC and Coordinator, UIET, University of Jammu welcomed the participants and introduced the resource person wherein he explicitly highlighted the importance of entrepreneurship for the students as there was a strong need to makeshift from job seeker approach to job provider approach that further resonates with the idea of AtmaNirbhar Bharat being advocated at the national level. He also assured that many such collaborative activities would be organized in future for building the start-up and innovation ecosystem in the University Campus and allied institutions so that an opportunistic environment for budding entrepreneurs can take off. The resource person for the workshop was Irtif Lone, In charge of Centre for Innovation, Incubation and Business Modelling, JKEDI. He deliberated upon the role of assessing the prerequisites of creating successful, scalable and sustainable businesses. He mentioned the important role that factors like ideation, business modelling, funding and networking plays in converting successful entrepreneurial ventures into unicorns of the future. The students gained knowledge about the financial support that can be availed by them from JKEDI for supporting their detailed business ideas.
The session was organized under the patronage of Professor Manoj Kumar Dhar, Vice-Chancellor, University of Jammu who complimented the collaborative spirit of the IIC team with ICccR & HRM for this activity and stressed initiating such activities in the future too for building entrepreneurial clusters in the University and across the UT of Jammu and Kashmir. The program was conceived and fully supported by Prof. Neetu Andotra, Director, ICccR & HRM, University of Jammu. The session was coordinated by Dr. Isha Sharma, Faculty, ICccR & HRM, University of Jammu. Dr. Savita Nayyar, Vice-President IIC JU presented the formal vote of thanks. Er. Rakshit Khajuria, NIFR IIC Coordinator, provided technical support for the smooth conduct of the program. The other members of IIC JU, Dr. Rockey Gupta, Dr. Meghna Dhar, Dr. Neeraj Sharma, and Dr. Sourbh, extended their cooperation in the successful conduct of the event and were present during the session. The session was attended by faculty members of UIET besides more than 50 students from various departments of the University.
