Five-day TechSaksham Faculty Development Program in collaboration with Microsoft, SAP India and Edunet Foundation was inaugurated at the Department of CS&IT, University of Jammu. Prof. Manoj Kumar Dhar, Vice-Chancellor, University of Jammu was the Chief Guest on the occasion. Prof. Dhar while addressing the gathering appreciated the faculty members for organizing this FDP and taking such an Industry-Academia partnership initiative that will provide hands-on training to the participants in the field of artificial intelligence which will be a blend of Skill Development and Technology. He encouraged the participants to grab on to this grand opportunity with an open mind and work hard to be the next innovative scientists, academicians and technologists of the country. Prof. Rahul Gupta, Dean, Faculty of Mathematical Sciences, University of Jammu was the Guest of Honour. Prof. Rahul Gupta emphasized that this FDP will serve as one of the main objectives of the new National Education Policy (NEP) which is Skill Development in Higher education learning. He also acknowledged the efforts of Microsoft, SAP India and Edunet Foundation for taking up this initiative with the Department of CS&IT. He also desired a successful outcome of FDP. Mohammad Asif, Project Manager, Microsoft India addressed the gathering with a thankful note and urged them to be innovative and contribute enthusiastically during the entire program. Sandeep Kaur, Sr. Programmer, Edunet Foundation, expressed heartfelt gratitude to the entire organizing team and wished the participants for an engaging and fruitful learning session. Earlier, Prof. Pawanesh Abrol, Head of the Department and Convener of the FDP, formally welcomed esteemed guests from the University of Jammu, Microsoft team, SAP India and Edunet Foundation. Prof. Abrol apprised the august members that the participants shall work on the latest topics of computer science like Machine Learning, Exploratory Data Analysis, Supervised Learning, Classification, Text Analytics, Deep Learning, Pedagogy and Design Thinking besides lab implementation using the latest tools and platforms. He apprised the audience about the participants and course contents of the FDP. Dr. Shubhnandan S. Jamwal, Organizing Secretary of the FDP concluded the inaugural session with a formal vote of thanks. Dr. Alka Gupta conducted the proceeding of the program. Prominent among those who were attended the FDP included Prof. Vinod Sharma, Prof Lalit Sen Sharma, Sh. Jasbir Singh, Dr. Suresh Rao, Dr. Palak Mahajan, Dr. Sawinder and scholars.
