Institution’s Innovation Council (IIC), University of Jammu today organized an online workshop on ‘Design Thinking, Critical thinking and Innovation Design’ in collaboration with University Institute of Engineering and Technology (UIET) attended by more than 65 participants from various Colleges and Universities. Professor Susheel Kumar Sharma, President IIC and Coordinator, UIET, University of Jammu welcomed the participants and introduced the resource person. He appreciated the efforts of the members of IIC, University of Jammu and UIET faculty for organizing this workshop. He assured that many such activities would be organized in future for building the startup and innovation ecosystem in the University Campus.The resource person for the workshop was Mr. Shailendra Krishan Sharma, Principal Technical officer, NIELIT (J&K). He introduced the participants with the basic concepts of IOT with its applications in innovative designs. He emphasized that IOT is an emerging technology and would be the key element for development of smart cities, smart homes, smart grids and it would fulfill the future requirements of agriculture and healthcare sectors. The expert speaker also underscored the numerous career opportunities available for IOT experts and encouraged the students to involve themselves in solving the local problems through smart technological interventions. He described IOT as a mode of communication between different machines with sensors and actuators as its integral part. Different hardware platforms at device level and network level were also highlighted. He further delved into embedded system design using Arduino development board through virtual demonstration of its applications using TinkerCad simulation tool. The workshop was organized under the patronage of Professor Manoj Kumar Dhar, Hon’ble Vice Chancellor, University of Jammu who complemented the IIC team for this activity and stressed for initiating such activities in the future too to motivate the students to develop the culture of innovation, startups and entrepreneurship. Dr. Meenakshi Kilam, Rector Kathua Campus also emphasized the need of such activities and wished the organizers for future endeavors.The program was conducted by Dr. Rockey Gupta, Convener and ARIIA Coordinator IIC JU who also presented the formal vote of thanks. Er. Rakshit Khajuria, NIFR IIC Coordinator, provided the technical support for the smooth conduct of the program. All members of IIC, University of Jammu and faculty members of UIET were present during the workshop.
