Two Day Simulation based Workshop organized by UESDC in collaboration with JKEDI Concludes at JU

University Entrepreneurship & Skill Development Centre, University of Jammu in collaboration with J&K Entrepreneurship Development Institute organized a “Two Day simulation based workshop on entrepreneurship” from 21st  to 22nd  December 2021. The workshop was aimed at inculcating entrepreneurial qualities among the youth and boost the entrepreneurial ecosystem in the Jammu and Kashmir, UT. Speaking on the occasion, the Chief Guest of the event, Prof. Manoj K. Dhar, Vice Chancellor, University of Jammu highlighted the significant contribution of the UESDC in nurturing the talent of young students of the university. He emphasized the need of holding such programs in the future as well so that the culture of innovation and entrepreneurship is created in the UT of J&K. He focused on the feedback of target youth who participated in the said workshop so that their ideas are channelized into real life practice.

On this occasion, Prof. Naresh Padha, Dean Academic Affairs and Coordinator RUSA 2.0, University of Jammu was the guest of honor. He encouraged the students to participate in such events, which hold the importance in shaping their career.

Mr. Irtif Mehraj Lone, In-charge, centre for Innovation and Incubation, JKEDI addressed the audience during the valedictory function. He stressed on creating a long term association of JKEDI with UESDC to produce budding entrepreneurs.

Earlier, Prof. Alka Sharma, convener, UESDC formally inaugurated the workshop and briefed the participants about the need and importance of the workshop. The inaugural session of Day 1 was conducted by Mr. Irtif Mehraj Lone, Incharge of centre for innovation and incubation, JKEDI. He highlighted the role of society in shaping the career of young minds. The session majorly focused on how to start a business and how to disrupt the market by forming a startup. He gave real life examples of some successful businesses like Ola, Uber etc. The next session was conducted by Shivani, Academic instructor of Incubation Centre, JKEDI on the business idea generation. The instructor engaged the participants to understand the opportunities available in the market with the help of BIG module exercise. Dr. Vinod Sharma, Head centre for Business development, District Office Jammu conducted the next session. He stressed upon how to formulate a business plan as well as its successful execution.

The Day two of the workshop was completely dedicated to simulation based activities that relate to a person’s specific skill- set. The participants were divided into several groups and different entrepreneurial activities were carried out starting from business idea generation, formulating a business plan, execution of a business plan and evaluation of the plan. The feedback of the workshop was collected from the participants who rated the said workshop as highly satisfactory.

The workshop was Co-ordinated by Dr. Aubid Hussain Parrey, the Core Committee Member, University Entrepreneurship & Skill Development Centre, University of Jammu. Dr. Anil Gupta, the Core Committee Member, University Entrepreneurship & Skill Development Centre, University of Jammu presented a formal Vote of Thanks.
