Prof. Manoj Kumar Dhar (Vice Chancellor):
It gives me immense pleasure to share with the stake-holders that the University Grants Commission, New Delhi has restructured the functioning and nomenclature of the existing Academic Staff Colleges in all the Universities of the country. It has been done so as to create Regional Centres for Capacity Building (RCCB) and Human Resource Development Centres (HRDC) which are primarily aimed at upgrading the existing knowledge structure of the faculty to enable them to work together for application of new knowledge for industrial and social development and other allied aspects.
The focus is to equip and motivate the teachers with advanced knowledge to accept challenges of quality teaching and research, especially in terms of course content design and development of curriculum focused on innovations and creativity. This will eventually lead to (a) The development of faculty (b) Reforms in assessment and certification methods (c) Knowledge upgradation for effective teaching and research (d) Interaction for some specialized emerging fields of advanced and inter-disciplinary nature.
I am quite positive and hopeful that the UGC-HRDC shall do its level best to achieve the objectives for which it has been created at University of Jammu.
Wishing all the stake-holders good luck in their academic & professional growth
