DLL organizes career awareness programme at GDC Marh

Jammu, February 11: Under the patronship of Prof. Umesh Rai, Hon'ble Vice Chancellor, University of Jammu, Employment Information Cum Advisory Bureau (EIAB), Department of Lifelong Learning (DLL), in collaboration with Govt. Degree College, Marh today organised a workshop on “Communication skills and Self Employment” for the students of the college.
The workshop was inaugurated by Dr. Priyanka Sharma, Director, Department of Lifelong Learning, University of Jammu and Prof. Ramneek Kour, Principal of the college. Prof. Kour in her welcome address said that her college is always keen to organise the activities which are for the benefit of the students and this collaboration would definitely help them at this crucial stage.
In her inaugural address, Dr. Priyanka Sharma shared that organising awareness programmes on these themes (self-employment and communication skills) is hugely important—especially in today’s changing job market. She also said that strong communication skills are a key requirement across all professions and industries. Such type of awareness and training programmes reduce hesitation, stage fear, and improve interpersonal relations
Ms. Neetu Dhar, Chief Coordinator and Master Trainer (JKDCUL)- (Jammu Kashmir Dairy Producers Processors and Marketing Cooperative Ltd), Jammu and Dr. Harleen Kour, Assistant Professor, Department of Commerce, University of Jammu were the resource persons. Dr. Rewa Khajuria, Counsellor, Department of Lifelong Learning coordinated the workshop.
Dr. Neetu Dhar apprised the students about Formal and Non formal Communication Skills, Body Language and Conversation starters with activities.Dr. Harleen Kour, in her presentation, explained, in detail, to the students that self-employment empowers individuals to start their own ventures, reducing dependence on limited salaried jobs. She also apprised that awareness at college level will help people identify business opportunities and understand start-up processes.
About 54 students of different semesters of the college registered for the workshop. The faculty members of the college who were presented at the occasion included Dr. Madhavi, Dr. Rahul Sharma, Dr. Samvedna etc. The programme concluded with the formal vote of thanks given by Dr. Rahul Sharma.
