JU Organizes Career Awareness Programme at GDC Ghagwal

Jammu, October 30: In the new world order, communication and computers have become the backbone of every career, among many other essential skills. NEP, DYD, and other initiatives are efforts undertaken by the University of Jammu to equip students with such competencies under the leadership of its eminent Vice Chancellor, Prof. Umesh Rai. The Employment Information-cum-Advisory Bureau (EIAB), Department of Lifelong Learning (DLL), in collaboration with Govt. Degree College, Ghagwal, today organized a workshop on “Communication Skills and Artificial Intelligence” for the students of the college. The workshop was inaugurated by Dr. Priyanka Sharma, Director, Department of Lifelong Learning, University of Jammu, and Dr. Sujata Slathia, Principal of the college.
In her welcome address, Dr. Sujata Slathia stated that her college is always keen to organize activities that benefit students and that such collaborations would certainly help them at this crucial stage.
In her inaugural address, Dr. Priyanka Sharma emphasized that learning is not a one-way discourse, especially in the present dynamic world. She highlighted the importance of experiential learning and the need for individuals to continuously upgrade their skills as per the requirements of the newly emerging global landscape.
Ms. Neetu Dhar, Chief Coordinator and Master Trainer (JKDCUL – Jammu Kashmir Dairy Producers, Processors and Marketing Cooperative Ltd), Jammu, and Dr. Malvika Ashok, Assistant Professor, Department of IT and Computer Sciences, University of Jammu, were the resource persons for the event. Dr. Rewa Khajuria, Counsellor, Department of Lifelong Learning, explained the objective behind conducting such workshops.
Ms. Neetu Dhar apprised the students of formal and non-formal communication skills, body language, and conversation starters, along with engaging activities. Dr. Malvika Ashok, in her presentation, explained in detail various tools of Artificial Intelligence and how these AI tools can simplify tasks by completing them within seconds.
About 70 students from different semesters of the college registered for the workshop. The sessions conducted by both experts were predominantly activity-based. The faculty members of the college present on the occasion included Dr. Shivani Sharma, Dr. Bavita Kumari, and Dr. Monika Sharma.
The programme concluded with a formal vote of thanks delivered by Dr. Vani Awasthi.
