Department of Lifelong Learning, University of Jammu concluded three months Basic Course in Computers for the wives of Army jawans at Military Station, Ratnuchak.

The course is a Jammu University’s initiative to connect with the community. The said initiative is an effort to take forward vision of the leader of the University, Prof. Umesh Rai, Hon’ble Vice Chancellor, University of Jammu to expand educational opportunities to all the sections of the society. The Department of Lifelong Learning undertakes community outreach and extension activities as a commitment of the institution of higher learning to fulfill the educational needs of the different sections of the society as opined by the Director, Department of Lifelong Learning.

The certificate distribution function was graced by Prog. Sangeeta Gupta, Dean, Planning and Development, University of Jammu. She appreciated the efforts and contribution of the Director, Department of Lifelong Learning in taking initiatives in this regard and assured continual support in this regard in future as well. She also applauded the commitment and continual efforts of Brigadier Sumeet Sharma and Col. Sandeep Takhar not only in the service of nation but also taking painstaking efforts in the upliftment of the army personnel and their families. On the occasion, Director Department of Lifelong Learning also announced the commencement of Personality Development course for the wives of the jawans. The Director has also appreciated the efforts of Mrs. Monika Sharma, Chairperson Army Wives Welfare Association for her unprecedented support and thought of helping and looking after the welfare of the families of army people.

A total of 17 women passed the Basic course in Computers and 16 women are enrolled in the course of personality development. The University of Jammu and Indian Army shall also explore the possibilities of signing the MoU for exploring range of welfare and educational activities for both army men and their families.
