The Centre for Distance and Online Education (CDOE), University of Jammu, celebrated Basant Panchami today with great enthusiasm. The event commenced with a soulful rendition of Saraswati Vandana by Shikhar Sharma, Vanish Sharma, and Gourav Goswami, setting a spiritual tone for the day. This was followed by Pushpaanjali, offered by Prof. Pankaj K. Srivastava, Director, CDOE, along with faculty members, officers, and staff.
Speaking on the occasion, Prof. Srivastava elaborated on the cultural and spiritual significance of Basant Panchami. He highlighted that the festival marks the arrival of spring, a season symbolizing renewal, growth, and transformation. He further emphasized that the day is dedicated to Goddess Saraswati, the epitome of wisdom, knowledge, and creativity, and serves as a reminder to seek enlightenment and learning.
Adding to the discourse, Mr. Shikhar Sharma, an NSS volunteer, explained the essence of Saraswati Vandana, while Ms. Ananiya Gupta, another NSS volunteer, shared insights into the significance of the festival. Dr. Rajber Singh Sodhi, Program Officer, NSS Unit V, recited a poem on Basant Panchami and also proposed the vote of thanks.
The celebration witnessed the presence of distinguished faculty members, including Prof. Sandeep Kour Tandon, Prof. Anupama Vohra, Dr. Neelam Choudhary, Dr. Hina Abrol, Dr. Saranpreet Kour Broca, Dr. Neha, Dr. Pooja, Dr. Jatinder, Dr. Mamta, Dr. Pragati, Dr. Deepti and Dr. Himanshi, along with the staff of CDOE.
