The department of International Centre for Cross Cultural Research and Human Resource Management (ICccR & HRM), University of Jammu organized an enriching industrial visit to “Chenab Textile Mills” in Kathua for its students from Semester II. The visit was aimed at providing students with a first-hand understanding of the textile industry, under part of the department’s ongoing efforts to bridge the gap between theoretical learning and real-world industrial practices.
During the visit, students were given an in-depth tour of the various production units at Chenab Textile Mills, one of the leading textile manufacturers in the region. They had the opportunity to observe the entire production process, from raw material processing to the final product. The management of the mill provided insightful lectures on the operational aspects of the textile industry, including the latest technological advancements, global market dynamics, and sustainability practices.
The students also engaged in interactive discussions with key management personnel, which helped them gain valuable insights into the challenges and opportunities in the textile sector, both domestically and internationally. This hands-on experience was designed to enhance students’ practical knowledge, particularly in terms of supply chain management, international trade practices, and global market strategies.
Prof. Hardeep Chahal, Director ICccR & HRM, University of Jammu, expressed enthusiasm about the success of the visit and extended gratitude to Chenab Textile Mills for their hospitality and the comprehensive learning experiences they provided to the students. “Our industrial visits are an essential component of the MBA (IB) curriculum as they allow students to gain real-world exposure and a deeper understanding of the industries they will be engaging with. Chenab Textile Mills is an excellent example of a company that has integrated innovation with sustainability, which aligns with the core values we aim to instill in our students” said Prof. Hardeep Chahal.
The industrial visit was coordinated by Dr. Neha Gupta (Faculty) and accompanied by Dr. Isha Sharma (Assistant Professor) and Dr. Swati Sharma (Faculty) from ICccR & HRM, University of Jammu.
