46th Annual Inter-Collegiate Athletic Meet (Men & Women) Championship 2023-24 Championship concludes at JU

The PG.Deptt. of the University of Jammu showed its supremacy by lifting the Overall Championship Trophy in the 46th Annual Inter-Collegiate Athletic Meet (M&W) Championship 2023-24 which concluded at the University Synthetic Track. The Championship was organized by the Directorate of Sports & Physical Education, University of Jammu. The Men’s Championship was bagged by PG.Deptt. of the University of Jammu with 61 points. Meanwhile, in the women's section GCW Udhampur secured the top position with 42 points.

Prof. Meena Sharma, Dean Planning, University of Jammu was the Chief Guest on the Closing Ceremony of the said Championship who along with other dignitaries on the dais awarded the individual medals and trophies to the athletes amidst a large number of gathering  of athletes and officials of the participating Colleges, employees & students of the University as well as the people from the civil society.

While addressing the gathering Prof. Meena Sharma congratulated the organizers for organizing such types of Sports events, which will provide an opportunity to the students of the Affiliated Colleges of the University of Jammu to come closer to each other besides showing their Sports talent. She also appreciated the mass participation of the athletes and officials accompanying their teams of the colleges.

Mr. Ravinder Singh ITO & Vice-President of Amateur Athletic Association of J&K also lauded the efforts and initiatives of the Directorate of Sports& Physical Education for organizing these types of activities and involving the young minds towards a healthy life. These types of activities also encourage the students to help the society in a better way.

 Brigadier PS Cheema, SENA MEDAL, VISHISHT SEVA MEDAL, NCC GROUP Commander, HQ Jammu addressed the gathering with his remarkable words. He also extended his greetings to the organizers for their dedication and efforts in organizing this remarkable event. He lauded the efforts in management of the event.

Earlier, Dr. Daud Iqbal Baba, Director, Directorate of Sports and Physical Education, University of Jammu presented the formal report of the 46th Annual Inter-Collegiate Athletic Meet (M&W) Championship 2023-24  that was organized by the Directorate of Sports & Physical Education, University of Jammu, w.e.f. 5th to 7th March, 2024 in which the athletes from 40 colleges in the men & women section participated. Around 700 players from various affiliated colleges of the University of Jammu  participated in this mega Event.

Prominent among others present there included, Dr. Komal Nagar, Sh. Vimal Kishore, Mr. Irfan Goni, Sh. Ajay Pal, S Padam Dev Singh, Sh. Jai Bharat, Sh. Ravish Vaid, Sh. Raj Kumar Bakshi, Sh. Gagan Kumar,Sh. Sanjeev Kumar, S. Harinderpal Singh, Dr. Mahak, Sdr. Inderjeet Singh, Ms. Manu Singh Pawar, Mr. Rishiv Sharma, Physical Directors (PTIs) affiliated Colleges of Jammu University, and Technical Officials of the Championship.
