3-Day International Conference on “Innovation and Sustainability in Business Development” initiates at ICccR & HRM, University of Jammu

Three day “International Conference on Innovation and Sustainability in Business Development” organised by International Centre for Cross-Cultural Research and Human Resource Management (ICccR & HRM) University of Jammu in collaboration with The University of the South Pacific, Fiji and Directorate of Distance & Online Education University of Jammu begins at University of Jammu.

The key note speakers for the inaugural ceremony of the International conference on Innovation and Sustainability in Business Development were Prof. Gurmeet Singh, Deputy Vice Chancellor & ConferenceVice President, Research & Innovation, The University of the South Pacific, Fiji and Prof. Haywantee Ramkissoon, Professor, University of South Australia, Adelaide. The inaugural ceremony was presided by Prof. Neelu Rohmetra, Dean Research Studies, University of Jammu & Founder Director, International Centre for Cross Cultural Research and Human Resource Management ICccR & HRM, University of Jammu.

Speaking on the occasion, Prof. Gurmeet Singh, Deputy Vice Chancellor & Vice President, Research & Innovation, The University of the South Pacific, Fiji highlighted the importance of creating balance between sustainability and innovation for creating inclusive and ecologically balanced enterprises, communities, societies and nations.

Prof. Haywantee Ramkissoon, Professor, University of South Australia, Adelaide in her key note address delved deep into the solving of societal and community imbalances through place attachment theory. She enabled attendees to have a global perspective of sustainability with reference to institutional practices and individual interventions.

Prof. Neelu Rohmetra, Dean Research Studies, University of Jammu, narrated the journey that the International Centre for Cross Cultural Research and Human Resource Management, ICccR & HRM has undergone and the milestones that has helped the centre to carve a niche for itself in India and abroad. She highlighted the role of youth engagement in startups and called academia and corporate stakeholders to look at the broader issues of society through the lens of transdisciplinarity.

Prof. Hardeep Chahal, Director, International Centre for Cross Cultural Research and Human Resource Management, ICccR & HRM, University of Jammu, presented the conference highlights, and the geographic scope of research papers that the conference has been able to fetch from India and abroad. She also acknowledged the guidance and support of Prof. Umesh Rai, Hon’ble Vice Chancellor, University of Jammu for such like academic endeavours.

It is pertinent to mention the Day I of the Conference was Virtual day with different plenary sessions and conference presentations. The prominent plenary speakers were Prof. Vipin Gupta, California State University, USA, Mr. Gaurav Roy, Country Manager QSL Vietnam Liability Limited Company, Vietnam, Prof. Vijay Pereira, NEOMA Business School, Reims Campus, France and Prof. Spring H. Han, Kyoto University Yoshida-Honmachi, Sakyo-ku, Kyoto, Japan.

The ceremony was coordinated by Dr. Isha Sharma, Assistant Professor, ICccR & HRM, University of Jammu and other faculty members of the department.
