Profile: 

The Law School, University of Jammu offers B.A.LL.B (5Years) Professional Course and is duly approved by the Bar Council of India. The Faculty is deeply committed to offer an extraordinary legal education where theory and practice converge to provide our students rich and varied experience and prepare them to enter the coveted legal profession. Courses having an inter-disciplinary approach to law are taught by dedicated faculty and guest lectures are delivered by judges and advocates of repute. The Faculty keeps the inevitable need of the law students in mind and has the goal of bringing up perfect lawyers abreast with novel method of solving the problems related to the application of law. Moot Courts, Mock trials, Seminars, Tutorials, Extension Lectures, Guided Library sessions, Project presentation, Legal awareness and legal literacy camps, Police station and prison visits, court and chamber visits and other outreach activities are perennial features at The Law School and an integrated component of the law curriculum. The students have bagged coveted prizes in debates, quizzes, sports, cultural and other co-curricular activities. Our vision is to continue the leadership in the field of legal education and create a network where research and development in the field of law are optimised by expanding, outreaching and globalising the method and mode of our activities.  The alumni of the The  Law School includes the Munsiffs, Prosecuting Officers, JAG, IAS, KAS and other allied services, litigation and corporate field. Collectively our faculty, students and alumni comprise a dynamic intellectual community, engaged in inter-disciplinary exploration of cutting-edge questions of law and policy. TLS endeavours to effectively integrate students into the legal profession so that they become equipped to fashion new ideas and approaches that will have a transformative impact on a changing world.

  • Development of advocacy skills, oratory skills and communication skills through the activities like, moot court , seminars, extension/lectures, guided library sessions, project presentations/report writing, computer application, clinical legal work, sports, and co-curricular activities.

  • B.A.LL.B (5 years) Course provides the students with myriad of professional options to explore and conquer. The legal arena is the place to be for anyone with communication skills abilities, logical reasoning, analytical power  and ability to read & imbibe. The B.A.LL.B (5 years) Course supplement and fine tune these abilities to  prepares the students to become good legal practitioners.
  • Through value-based initiatives like NSS activities, Bharat Scouts and Guide  programs, the courses seek to develop the value system among youth. Community engagement activities like legal aid, legal  literacy camps etc aim.to make students socially responsible citizens In brief, these flagship programmes provide strong foundation for students to pursue professional options and explore academic opportunities thereby helping them to perform much better,  both at  professional / administrative front.
