NSS, Campus Unit-II, JU organizes Best Out of Plastic Waste and Plantation Drive on World Environment Day

National Service Scheme (NSS), Campus Unit-II, University of Jammu organized various activities on event of “World Environment Day -2023” on the theme “Beat Plastic Pollution”. The day started with the cleanliness drive in the Nature’s Paradise” area in the backyard of Dhanwantri Library .Latter the volunteers painted the lower trunks of trees and rocks followed by plantation drive. More than 60 samplings of flower and other plants of various varieties were planted. To beat the plastic wastes, volunteers collected waste plastic bottles and reused them by cutting the bottles and giving them shape for planting samplings. Latter these bottles were coloured and filled with soil and after planting samplings they were hanged on trees. 568793The event was conducted under the mentorship of Prof. Umesh Rai, Hon'ble Vice-Chancellor & Chairman NSS, University of Jammu, Jammu who lauded the efforts of all the volunteers for the successful conduct of the event and said that such events create awareness in motivating students to adopt practices towards maintaining clean and green surroundings of the campus. The event was conducted under the supervision and guidance of Prof. Savita Nayyar, Convener, NSS Campus Units, University of Jammu, Jammu, who congratulated all the volunteers the for the successful conduct of the event. More than 50 NSS volunteers and students participated in the event.The event was successful with the joint efforts and cooperation of Health Centre Employees of University of Jammu and services of Landscaping and Arboriculture Department, University of Jammu, Jammu. The event was over all coordinated by Dr. Meghna Dhar, NSS Programme Officer, NSS Campus Unit-II, University of Jammu, Jammu. She said that the event was organized in order to spread the message of clean and green campus .All the NSS Volunteers participated in the event with great enthusiasm and fervor.
