World Environment Day was celebrated with full enthusiasm and fervour on the theme "Beat Plastic Pollution" in the Reasi Campus, JU, on 5th  June 2023 by organizing lectures, awareness rally and cleanliness drive in the Reasi bus stand and main market. Prof. S. K. Pandey, Director, Reasi Campus was the key note speaker who delivered an exhaustive talk on the environmental pollution due to hazardous wastes. He elaborated about the serious threats to humans and environment today is caused by unscientific disposal of hazardous wastes. It is high time when there is drastic need of implementation of integrated waste management policy in every city as he said. He further added that it is very important to maintain natural biogeochemical cycles which are badly impacted due to anthropogenic activities.  He also enlightened to the students about various hazardous wastes generated from our household waste which require proper disposal in order to keep the environment and human safe as well as to stop pollution. He also asked to each and everyone present to take oath to avoid use of plastic and similar hazardous materials and also to make the people around them aware for the same. On this occasion lectures, poster presentation and environmental awareness rally was organized  by the  students along with the faculty members of the Reasi Campus. The students have displayed  the posters on the various themes of the environmental issues like plastic pollution,  biodiversity loss, green house impact, global warming and climate change. Mr. Manoj Kumar spoken on the historical background of the world environment day.  He also talked about the significance of the  day  and impact of environmental calamities on human beings, plants and animals and also raise awareness to take positive environmental action to protect nature and the precious planet earth.  Among the students participated in the oral presentation were Ms. Namita Gangoo, Mr. Javaid,  Ms. Chandani Chib Ms. Mehreena Shanaz and Mr. Hans Raj Uttam. The event was organized by Dr. Nisha Sharma, Dr. Ravi Kumar and Mr. Sandeep Sharma.
