The Department of Library and Information Science, the University of Jammu as a part of the Ranganathan lecture series organized the lecture on “Intellectual Property Rights: Issues and Concerns” in Hybrid mode. Professor Jagtar Singh, Head of DLIS and University Librarian, Guru Kashi University, Talwandi Sabo, District Bathinda, Punjab was the resource person who delivered the talk through an online platform. The program started with a welcome address by Professor Sangita Gupta, Head of the department, where she introduced the key speaker Professor Jagtar Singh by highlighting his major accomplishments. Prof. Singh gave a brief introduction to Intellectual Property Rights and explained various terms related such as trade secrets, copyrights, patents, etc. He also made the audience aware of various challenges and issues in this concern and how to deal with them as the key purpose of the IPR is to encourage the creation of a wide variety of intellectual goods. In the end, the speaker answered the queries of the participants raised by the moderator of the session. The formal vote of thanks was extended by Asst. Prof Ashwin K. Kushwaha on the behalf of the entire team of DLIS, University of Jammu. The programme was attended by the teachers, alumni, students, and research scholars of the department. The programme proved to be informative, and insightful for all the participants and received a lot of appreciation from the faculty members and the scholars for the successful completion of the first lecture of the series.
